SMALL PATIO MAKEOVER on a BUDGET (Pt. 1 ) | Hip ‘n Creative

I’m super excited to be sharing with you my first of TWO Small Patio Makeover on a Budget series! Over the weekend my wonderful husband and I -with the help of our kids- cleaned and dressed our front patio. Getting it one step closer to being a beautiful oasis! One of the things we initially did was power wash our patio.  What a difference that made!  I didn’t think our patio was too bad but once we power washed it there are a huge difference!  The photos don’t do it justice!

Once we were done with cleaning the patio we then planted some very pretty perennials and some awesome hanging baskets as well as some pretty plants around the patio seating area.  It was a very simple project with minimal work (with the exception of planting the flowers).

The patio furniture we have was bought on sale from Wayfair last year – https://goo.gl/at1bth this is the set we got but we bough it at the end of the season and saved a ton! When we got it we used it in our back patio last year but decided move it to our front patio and get a larger set in the future for the back.

Price Breakdown:

  • Hanging Baskets: Calibrachoa $29.98 each
  • Patio Garden: Autumn Sage Red 2 for $10.00
  • Flowers in baskets: Blanket Flower 2 for $10.00
  • Patio Furniture: Wayfair (on sale last year for $240) https://goo.gl/at1bth
  • End tables (for plants) $8.00 each Ikea

Here is my youtube video with our process:

I’m happy with the overall look of the patio!   But will be adding some colorful pillows, outdoor rug, lighting and more plants!  Some come back and check out my second part of my patio make over!

Thanks for stopping by and I’ll see you guys on the next episode!

3 Super Easy Halloween Treats

Halloween Treats | Hip n Creative

What’s up guys!  Today I wanted to share with you 3 awesome Halloween Treats.  These treats are great for Halloween Parties or if you just want to give spooky treats for your kids.  I had so much fun creative this for my girls and they loved eating them!

Hip 'n Creative | Halloween Treats

The first treat I share with you are these Bloody Bandages.  What you will need for this recipe is:

  • Graham Crackers
  • Vanilla Icing (or if you prefer you can use Marshmallow fluff)
  • Red Food Coloring
  • Corn Syrup

Ok so the first thing your gonna do is snap the graham crackers in half then in half again (use the lines on the crackers as a guide).  Next, your going to add a dab of the vanilla icing to the center of the cracker.  Last you add the “blood”.  To make the blood you just need a few ounces of corn syrup and red food coloring.  Mix it together and that’s it!  You have your blood.

To make the Mummy Cookies, you will need:

  • Milano Cookies
  • White Chocolate Morsels
  • Black Gel Food Coloring

To make these super easy Mummy Cookies: First your going to melt your chocolates.  Next your going to take you cookies and dunk them in the chocolate and lay them on wax paper.  Allow the cookies to dry a bit before adding your eyes with the gel food coloring.  Last  drizzle the rest of the melted chocolate in a zig zag pattern and you’re done!  Boom!

The final treat is the Screaming Pretzels.  You will need some:

  • melting chocolates
  • pretzels
  • candy eyes

Just like you did for the mummy pretzels.  You’ll melt your chocolate in the microwave.  Next dip your pretzels in the chocolate and lightly shake off the excess.  And last with your utensil add a dab of chocolate to the pockets of the pretzels and add your eyes.  That’s it, you are done!!

If you get a chance to make any or all of these treats, share them with me on Instragram @hipncreative.  It would make me so happy to see your work.  I also created a youtube video showing you step by step so head on over there and check it out!  If you haven’t done so yet subscribe!  That way you’ll be notified of future videos I post!
