Valentine Love Wreath

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and I cannot believe how quickly this month is flying by!  I’ve been thinking of ways to decorate the apartment without it being overly done. During the Christmas Holiday I made a paper wreath that was loads of fun and I received many compliments from my friends and family.  This time around I decided to make a wreath out of felt and this is what I made.

Here is what you’ll need:

  • 8″ foam wreath (available at any craft store)
  • soft felt
  • glue gun and glue sticks
  • Valentine Paper or construction paper (optional)
  • 2″ cup or anything to draw circles on felt
  • Ribbon or Twine (for hanging)

Directions

First thing I did was trace and cut 2″ circles using an old cup I had for holding my pencils (you can use anything you have available).  Be patient because this step is a bit time consuming since you’ll have to trace then cut about 100 of these felt circles.

Next I folded the felt in half then in half again until the I have a triangle shape (like below).

Using my glue gun I poked the tip of the gun on the the foam wreath and filled it with glue.  Then I stuck the folded felt tip in and held it for a few seconds making sure it didn’t pop back out.  Sorry I don’t have picture for this step. 😦

Continue to glue the felt until your done.  Your final step will be to tie an 8″ ribbon to the back of the wreath and hang.  An optional step you can do is grab your favorite scrapbook paper or construction paper and write a word like “love” “amore” or whatever floats you boat!  Either way this is a fun and cute project anyone can do!

Pipe Cleaner Rings Tutorial

BlingRing

Hello Hello!  I just wanted to share this cute craft I did with my girls a couple of years ago.  It’s a very simple project you and your little one can do together in an afternoon.  Great for Valentine’s Day or any other day! Let’s get started..

What you’ll need:

  • Pipe Cleaners a.k.a. Chenille Stems (any color you like)
  • Hershey Kisses

Directions

First take 2 pipe cleaners and cross them over each other and twist them in the center, this will hold the pipe cleaners in place.

Place a kiss in the center of the  and bring the pipe cleaners up the to tip of the Hershey kiss.  Twist to secure the kiss around the tip of the candy.

Mold the pipe cleaner into a ring.  I used my thumb as a guide to make the ring base (or if you have little ones, you can use their finger as the ring guide).

You can wrap the excess of pipe cleaner around the base of the Hershey Kiss or snip off the ends with scissors.  The end of the pipe cleaners can be sharp and we don’t want our little ones getting hurt.

If your little one is giving these away for Valentine’s Day, you can add a cute little note to your ring!

Valentine Love

Valentine’s Day was a very exciting day for my kids, they got a chance to dress down and also exchange valentine gifts with their classmates.  My girls are wonderful kids, they didn’t want to exclude anyone so they made cards.  They even included their teachers.  My Nena’s first grade teacher actually said Thank You expressing that my Nena was the only student to ever give them a Valentine’s Day Gift!  She was so proud of herself and so happy!

Back at home my baby girl and I had a lovely Mommy and Me breakfast and watched Strawberry Shortcake (or how she says it: Starberry CakeCake :p)  Although after my 3rd time watching the movie I lost interest and instead did some home reading.  I did manage to surprise her with a bouquet of felt tulips.  She loved them and hugged them to herself while watching her movie and enjoying her snack.

I did manage to make another bouquet of felt tulips for my niece and added a box of chocolates for her as well.  It is so cute (if I do say so myself).  I really enjoyed making these lovely gifts for my girls!  It was so much fun!! ~
